University student feedback

Thousands of students study in universities in the UK, USA and Canada each year. Below is a snapshot of a survey comparing feedback from a small selection of international students studying in these popular English speaking destinations.

International students studying in universities away from home choose their course and destination for a variety of reasons, but reputation of a university was often mentioned. Our survey shows that the highest agent usage was found among students in the UK, while the lowest was in the USA.

The USA’s low cost of living was singled out as one of its best attributes, although price-wise, Canada was a cheaper alternative.

Students were taking a variety of courses, from MBAs to short-term credit courses that were recognised by their universities at home. Average hours of study a week varied enormously, as well as length of course, although a minimum of a year’s study programme was typical.

All participants said that they would recommend their university to others. Most of the students found mixing with locals to be either very easy or easy, perhaps reflecting the higher English ability of the average student.

Students choosing residential accommodation were more likely to be found among students studying in the UK or Canada. Those in the USA tended towards a rented flat.
