The percentage of Chinese students was down this year, making up just 11 per cent of the total students at our participating schools, compared with 28.8 per cent last year (see LTM, July 2006, page 26). Taiwanese numbers were also down, from 6.6 per cent to three per cent.
The average length of stay increased from 13.2 weeks last year to 16.7 weeks this year, although |

the average hours a week studied remained almost the same.• Younger students were present at our participating schools this year, with five per cent aged 15 years and under compared with the 0.5 per cent recorded in 2005’s status survey.
Agencies were responsible for recruiting 61 per cent of students, a slight decrease on the 64 per cent recorded last year.
