| • There were some similar trends uncovered in this year’s Status survey when compared with the previous year (see LTM, September 2008, page 84). Most notably, Korean and Italian students remain the top two nationalities at UK schools; this year, they shared pole position, whereas last year, Koreans had the edge. And coming from eighth position into a bronze ranking was Saudi Arabia, while Turkish students also muscled into the top five this year. |
|
• There were more students in the 25-to-30 year old age category recorded in 2008, 20 per cent as opposed to the 13 per cent noted the previous year.
• Average length of stay had also edged up slightly, from 11.7 weeks to 16.3 weeks.
• The average cost of four weeks’ tuition was higher in pounds sterling terms, up from UK£746 to UK£831; however, the US$ comparison is only just over US$100 higher, illustrating the price advantage of the weak pound in today’s terms.
