As the first example of the partnership, the two institutions are offering, “The Cities of Fire”, a three-week course featuring archaeological classes in both locations and trips to the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the Archaeological Museum of Naples, as part of Sant’Anna’s J-Term from January 2014. Further initiatives and joint programmes will be announced soon.

Cristiana Panicco, President of Sant’Anna, said, “We are excited to collaborate with the American University of Rome to provide a unique, high-quality educational experience in Sorrento and Rome. We believe both institutions share a common vision: to offer students an opportunity for personal and cultural growth through the hands-on discovery of authentic Italy.”

Richard Hodges, President of AUR, said, “This partnership will allow students from both our institutions even greater access to iconic Italy. Where better to study the civilization and culture of Italy than in these two great centres?”

Sant’Anna Institute-Sorrento Lingue was established by Panicco in 1998 as an Italian language school before adding credit-bearing study abroad programmes delivered in English as in affiliation with US universities.
