Manchester Central School of English (MCSE) has entered the UK’s junior market, with its first residential summer course in 2014 to be delivered at the University of Chester.

The residential programmes for junior students from 11-to-18 years old will feature 15 hours of English tuition per week as well as a full activity schedule and excursions to local attractions, including Old Trafford (the home of Manchester United), Alton Towers Theme Park and Chester Zoo.

Accommodation will be in single rooms with shared shower and toilet facilities within the campus accommodation at the University of Chester, a ten-minute walk from the historic town centre. Students will have access to campus facilities including an indoor sports hall, a swimming pool, football pitches and other recreational areas.

Carolina Suarez, Business Development and Sales Manager at MCSE, which offers courses for students aged 16+ at its Manchester school, explained the move into the junior sector. “Based on our experience in the industry, we wanted to diversify our portfolio in the summer, offering learning opportunities to younger students as a response to the dynamics of the market.”

The location of Chester, with its rich heritage, would give students a “truly English summer”, Suarez said. “A walk through Chester is a walk through the history of Britain.” She continued, “We wanted to offer the possibility of enjoying one of the most beautiful locations in the UK: the north. As members of English UK North, our commitment is to promote the area and we believed this was a great opportunity to do so.”

Suarez added, “Our full-time staff have several years’ experience working in summer schools, and so have the expertise needed to offer a high-quality service.”

Places for the MCSE summer course are available from July in bookings of between one and four weeks.
