Glion launches London summer courses

Glion Institute of Higher Education, a Swiss hospitality management institution, has launched a London Summer Academy to offer two-week taster courses.

The Glion London Summer Academy introduces students to the luxury hospitality sector

Designed for 16-to-18 year-old students interested in a career in the sector, the London Summer Academy courses offer an insight into the world of luxury hospitality and provide a glimpse of what students would learn on an undergraduate degree at Glion. Topics include restaurant concept and design, food preparation and planning, and event management.

Learning will take place on the campus of the University of Roehampton, where Glion London, which opened in August 2013, is based.

Combing theory with practice, the academy experience includes field trips to renowned hospitality companies, including a professional visit to a five-star establishment and several dining destinations. Students will participate in introductory lectures and workshops organised by Glion’s faculty and visiting speakers, and at the end of the two weeks will organise an on-campus event to test their new skills.

The Glion London campus currently offers a bachelor degree and a postgraduate diploma in Hospitality Management, while two campuses in Switzerland offer a range of programmes. Glion is part of Laureate Hospitality Education, a global higher education chain of private hospitality institutions.
