New IH school in Thailand

25 March, 2015

International House World Organisation (IHWO) has welcomed a second affiliate school in Thailand with the opening of IH Chiang Mai, offering both English and Thai language programmes.

The new IH Chiang Mai school.

IH Chiang Mai has been opened by the owner of IH Bangkok, which was established in 2003. Danny Willcocks, Director of both schools, said, “We decided to open a new school in Chiang Mai in order to offer teacher training and study holiday students the full experience of Thailand – both the chaotic, wonderful Bangkok and the stunning scenery of Chiang Mai. Being part of the International House network helps us develop our schools to reach new levels of distinction within the region.”

The school will offer a full range of English and Thai language programmes, including the Study Holiday Thailand course, as well as exam preparation, business English, academic subjects including Maths and Science, and teacher training programmes such as Celta and Delta.

Describing the location of the new school, Willcocks said, “Often called the ‘Rose of the North’, Chiang Mai is a cultural and natural wonderland, boasting historic temples and bustling night bazaars surrounded by breath-taking mountains, lush forests and idyllic waterfalls.”

IH Chiang Mai makes a total of 159 schools for the IHWO network, which was first established in 1953 and now spans 52 countries.
