English UK Wales has been established as the latest official regional sub-group of language school association English UK, aiming to help member schools jointly promote Wales as an outstanding EFL destination to agents and students.

The committee members and constitution have been officially approved by English UK and the first English UK Wales meeting was held early this month.

Dave Henson, English UK Wales Chairman and Managing Director of WE Bridge International, said, “I’m really excited about members working together. We are all aiming for the same thing, to increase the overall number of students experiencing this excellent destination.”

English UK Wales, which has a founding membership of eight language schools, will be focusing on specific events such as fam trips, inward missions and promoting each of its members on a dedicated English UK Wales website, as well as raising the profile of educational tourism and the industry at local and national government level.

Emelyne Burkhard at Celtic English Academy has been appointed as Vice-Chair of the group, and said Wales offered outstanding beaches, world-famous castles, brilliant sporting events and famously friendly people.

The English UK Wales group is separate from the existing Learn English in Wales organisation, which will continue to operate.

The recent February issue of StudyTravel Magazine included a special feature on Wales as a study travel destination, with contributions from schools and agencies sending to the country.
