CEG acquires Intrax English in US

08 July, 2015

UK-headquartered international provider Cambridge Education Group (CEG) has announced an agreement with Intrax Inc to acquire the Intrax English Programs portfolio of US schools in San Francisco, Chicago and San Diego.

Intrax English Programs will be assimilated into the Stafford House School of English brand

The transaction, which is expected to complete by the end of the year, will eventually see the Intrax schools incorporated within CEG’s Stafford House School of English brand.

Stafford House currently operates three schools in the UK – with a fourth due to open in September in Cambridge – and one US-based centre in Boston, which was acquired in 2013.

In a company statement, CEG said the purchase represents an active part of the group’s strategy to develop in the US market. In the interim period, all business and operations at both brands will remain as usual.

John Wilhem, Chairman of Intrax Inc, said, “We feel that CEG is a strong strategic partner capable of building a network of language schools throughout the US, and they are in an excellent position to expand their network of schools thus creating opportunities for Intrax English Academy staff. Furthermore, this sale will allow Intrax to continue to expand its J-1 programmes and its US-focused intern and job placement programmes.”

Stephan Roussounis, Managing Director of Stafford House School of English, said, “We are very excited to bring these three fantastic schools under the umbrella of Stafford House and Cambridge Education Group. For 2016, we will be offering four top US destinations across the US, and a strong head office team based in San Francisco.”

As well as the Stafford House brand, CEG also operates the CATS high school network in the UK and US, the Foundation Campus brand through university partnerships in the UK, US and the Netherlands, and the Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts (CSVPA).

Intrax provides educational and work programmes worldwide including high school exchange, international au pairs, leadership programmes, and work and internship placements.
