South African provider International House (IH) Cape Town has officially opened new premises to act as a dedicated centre for the school’s Celta teacher trainer programmes and other specialist English courses.

Located a short walk from IH Cape Town’s main facility in the Sea Point area of the city, the new centre boasts 11 classrooms, including two Celta teacher trainer rooms with interactive whiteboards, a spacious student lounge area, a Celta preparation/teachers’ room, reception desk, business centre and other facilities.

“I’m pleased to announce the opening of the new extension of IH Cape Town,” said Gavin Eyre, Managing Director of the school.

“Celta has always been very popular for local and foreign teachers and now having a dedicated Celta centre adds great value to our potential teachers.”

The Celta programme is a certificate of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Tesol), administered by Cambridge English, and typically delivered as a four-week intensive programme.

Eyre added, “The new centre will also be used for our English for Aviation and Oil and Gas courses.”

IH Cape Town was one of the institutions featured in StudyTravel Magazine’s special feature on Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Tefl) programmes for international students last year.
