Volunteer agency 20 years old

Latitude Global Volunteering, based in the UK, celebrates 20 years of volunteering placements in China this year.

The company estimates that it has placed 1,800 volunteers teaching English in Chinese schools since the company started in 1990. Linden Baxter of Lattitude Global Volunteering, says, “There is a great demand for English speaking volunteers within the seven regions of China in which we work. The ability to speak English is a hugely valuable skill the opens doors for the students, allowing them access to better education, improving their career prospects, helping them to provide for their families and to invest in their communities so Lattitude volunteers are making an enormous difference to these young people’s lives.”

As well as sending students to teach English in China, the company has also established an exchange programme offering Chinese teachers the opportunity to teach some Mandarin in UK schools, as well as improving their English language skills.
